Grievance Handling System

Groupket Co., Ltd., in accordance with Article 6 of the Act on Press Arbitration and Remedies, etc., has implemented the “Grievance Officer System” as follows. If you have suffered harm or distress due to a report by Groupket Co., Ltd., please submit specific materials by mail, fax, or by visiting us in person. Depending on the circumstances, we will handle the matter promptly and with due seriousness.

Article 1 (Purpose)

The purpose of these regulations is to establish and operate a Grievance Officer within Groupket Co., Ltd., in accordance with the Act on Press Arbitration and Remedies, etc., to mediate and arbitrate disputes and issues involving defamation, infringement of rights, or other matters arising from press reports.

Article 2 (Status of the Grievance Officer)

The Grievance Officer shall be established and operated within Groupket Co., Ltd., in accordance with the Act on Press Arbitration and Remedies, etc., to mediate and arbitrate disputes and issues involving defamation, infringement of rights, or other matters arising from press reports.

Article 3 (Authority and Duties of the Grievance Officer)

  1. Investigating acts of press infringement.

  2. Recommending corrections for press reports that are untrue or infringe on the honor or other legal rights of others.

  3. Recommending corrective reports, rebuttal reports, or compensation for damages to address the grievances of victims in need of relief.

  4. Providing advice on protecting readers’ rights and remedies for infringements.

Article 4 (Appointment of the Grievance Officer)

One person shall be appointed either from inside or outside the company to serve as Grievance Officer. However, when appointing an external candidate, the person must meet specific qualification requirements.

Article 5 (Qualifications of the Grievance Officer)

When appointing an external Grievance Officer, the following qualifications must be met:

  1. In the case of public officials, a minimum of 10 years of public service and holding a senior position of Director level (Grade 4) or higher.

  2. In the case of lawyers, a minimum of 5 years of experience and recommendation by the local bar association.

  3. In the case of civic or social organizations related to the press, the head of the organization or a person recommended by the organization.

Article 6 (Status of the Grievance Officer)

An internal Grievance Officer shall be appointed either in a newly created position or concurrently with other duties. Unless disqualified for specific reasons, the term of office shall be guaranteed, and the Grievance Officer shall be free from any interference or control. An external Grievance Officer shall be guaranteed the same status as an employee of Groupket Co., Ltd. in carrying out their duties.

Article 7 (Term of Office)

The term of office of the Grievance Officer shall be two years, and they may be reappointed once. If the Grievance Officer resigns before the end of the term, the successor shall serve the remainder of the predecessor’s term.

Article 8 (Remuneration)

For internal Grievance Officers appointed concurrently with other duties, additional allowances may be paid for consultation and handling matters beyond the regular salary. For newly appointed internal Grievance Officers, remuneration shall reflect the standard salary of employees. For external Grievance Officers, the level of remuneration shall be determined through mutual agreement.

Article 9 (Handling of Recommendations)

Groupket Co., Ltd. shall guarantee the independent activities of the Grievance Officer and, unless there are justifiable reasons, shall endeavor to accept the recommendations of the Grievance Officer.

Article 10 (Effective Date)

These regulations shall take effect on February 3, 2015.
